The once-promising hopes of a comeback quickly faded as the Hunters struggled to find their rhythm on the field, leaving supporters disheartened. By halftime, the scoreboard reflected a staggering 32-4 in favor of the Falcons, with the Hunters unable to capitalize on any scoring opportunities or regain control of the game. The second half saw no respite for the Hunters, who appeared to lose cohesion and confidence as the ...

PNG KUMULS International forward Keven Appo Get Settled To Face FIJI BATIS on Sunday. PARKER TAMBUA     Appo Settling  in, set for clash against Bati KUMULS forward Keven Appo has settled in well in the PNG camp after arriving from the United Kingdom on Friday and is ready to face the Fiji Bati on Sunday. The Bradford Bulls enforcer in the Betfred Championship said the Fijians had a quality pack but his fellow forwards in the Kumuls were focused on what to bring to the contest instead of their opponents. "We are expecting a tough contest in the middle but for us, we are only focusing on how we want to play and not them (Bati)," Appo said. "I'm ready for this challenge and I'm sure the other forwards in our team will be ready for that. MEET THE SANTOS PNG ORCHIDS SERA KOROI - INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION OF RUGBY LEAGUE IN PAPUA NEW GUINEA

MEET THE SANTOS PNG ORCHIDS SERA KOROI - INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION OF RUGBY LEAGUE IN PAPUA NEW GUINEA Santos PNG Orchids by Santos PNG Orchids MEET THE ORCHIDS – Sera Koroi: It Takes a Village When Sera Koroi found out she was pregnant in mid-2021, she thought her long-held dream to represent the Orchids at a Rugby League World Cup was over, with the tournament scheduled for November that year. But a 12-month postponement left the door ajar for Sera, whose mother is from New Ireland Province and whose father is from Fiji, to play for PNG after all. Sera explains: “When I got pregnant, it was God’s plan for me. I really trusted that no matter what. Then when the tournament got postponed, I thought it was meant to be. Before I knew I was pregnant, I actually injured my angle which forced me to stop playing, which was His way of taking me out of the sport and making sure my son would be healthy. “After I had my son Viliame on 28 October 2021, it was pretty hard because ...

'PNG KUMUL KNOWS HOW TO BEAT THE GIANTS' - by Eddie Aila, PNG Kumul 196

'PNG KUMUL KNOWS HOW TO BEAT THE GIANTS' The Perspective By: Eddie Aila - PNG Kumul 196  22 years ago I was 21years old. We got flogged 63-0 in our warm-up game against the Kangaroos in Townsville.  We trained the house down as a result of a crappy performance, courtesy of the current Melbourne Storm coach, Craig Bellamy. We got saluted off from our camp at Goldie Barracks with deafening bombs and gun salute. We were heading for war in France and England, brother's in arms, for our country. We sang on the bus but we were still divided - Highlands, Islands, Mix-race, Outcasts... United yet separated.  We arrived to train in Carcassonne, France for a few days before heading to Paris to play hosts, France. In France, something clicked when we landed in Paris and passed by a million bridges... we sang like "PNG", no longer divided!! Our singing bonded us. Lonely tears fell quietly as we travelled on the bus, singing our hearts out, to our training ground before the g...

NORTH Queensland Cowboys winger Robert Derby says he will be representing Papua New Guinea and his family when he makes his National Rugby League (NRL) debut in the round 13 clash against Parramatta Eels tonight. The Port Moresby-born PNG international said on Tuesday following the team’s announcement by coach Todd Payten, that he was still soaking in the news as he didn’t expect his debut would come soon. “I was pretty emotional. Basically my goal this year was to be consistent at the Hostplus Cup and at the back of my mind making an NRL debut.  “It was pretty hard for me when I represented PNG. Obviously representing your country is pretty emotional and you have your whole family behind you and everyone in PNG as well because you have the nation to play for. "To make...

THE PNG HUNTERS DON'T HAVE THE SPINE NECESSARY TO LEAD AND CONTROL THE TEAM ON THE FIELD - Bennie Heir

THE PNG HUNTERS DON'T HAVE THE SPINE NECESSARY TO LEAD AND CONTROL THE TEAM ON THE FIELD. PNG HUNTERS likely Wooden spoon favourite. Bennie Heir   Its the eleventh hour now and the PNG HUNTERS still don't have the big forwards necessary to dominate and win games. The PNG HUNTERS still don't have that critical spine that is needed to lead and control the team. There is still no sign of moves to try and get this PNG HUNTERS forward pack to that of NRL BENCHMARK so they stand a chance. At least four big forwards of height 190cm and above is needed in the team for it to be competitive. We have been talking about bringing in big tall Fijian forwards. The modern game demands that there must be suitable size in the forward pack for it to be effective. Suitable size consisting of suitable height preferably of 190cm and above and suitable weight of around the 100kg is a need for the job task to be properly serviced and deliver effectively. The PNG HUNTERS don't have that and thi...
