Appo Settling  in, set for clash against Bati

KUMULS forward Keven Appo has settled in well in the PNG camp after arriving from the United Kingdom on Friday and is ready to face the Fiji Bati on Sunday.

The Bradford Bulls enforcer in the Betfred Championship said the Fijians had a quality pack but his fellow forwards in the Kumuls were focused on what to bring to the contest instead of their opponents.

"We are expecting a tough contest in the middle but for us, we are only focusing on how we want to play and not them

(Bati)," Appo said.

"I'm ready for this challenge and I'm sure the other forwards in our team will be ready for that.

"Personally, it's always an honour representing my country in a test match and I'm grateful that the team gave me the opportunity to be part of the Pacific Championship."

The former PNG Hunter said it was a challenge for him to adapt back to the humidity in Port Moresby in the first few

days of training.

"I stayed in UK for over eight months and had to acclimatise to the cold weather over there but when I came back on Friday, I had to go through that again.

"I struggled in the first training session on Monday but it feels normal again after today's (yesterday) session so all

good."

Meanwhile, Appo said he did not feel homesick while away in the UK thanks to the huge contingent of PNG players

playing there.

"It's good that we have a lot of PNG boys playing in the UK because we look out for each other and we catch up from time to time just to see if each one of us was doing okay," Appo said.

"In that way we don't feel homesick. We share stories on how each of us are doing at our respective clubs; if someone is injured we visit so we show concern for one another and that bonding is still strong."

Obviously representing your country is pretty emotional and you have your whole family behind you and everyone in PNG as well because you have the nation to play for. "To make
